Avantasia je německá superskupina metalové opery, kterou vytvořil Tobias Sammet, zpěvák skupiny Edguy. Je charakterizován jako rocková opera, protože se na něm podílejí různí zpěváci a hudebníci a skládá se z koncepčních alb. Název vznikl spojením slov Avalon a fantasia („fantazie“) a popisuje „svět za hranicemi lidské představivosti“ (citát z bookletu debutového alba).
