Ohio native Marilyn Manson, real name Brian Hugh Warner, is the most controversial figure in heavy metal today, an ordained pastor of the Church of Satan and a man who terrifies conservative America. He started out as a music publicist - after interviewing Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, his first band, Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids, got the opportunity to open for NIN and signed their first contract. Manson was clearly inspired by the masters of the industry - Alice Cooper, Kiss and Alien Sex Fiend were undoubtedly influences - but musically he went further.

Marilyn Manson is still the only permanent member of the band of the same name. His albums have been nominated five times for Grammy Awards, and he has received numerous awards and nominations (31 wins and 63 nominations) in metal magazine and MTV polls. He has also directed many of his music videos. He has released a total of 11 studio albums and one live album.

Manson's fascination with the glamour and darkness of America and the musical portrayal of his vision is still provocative today, looking back on the last thirty years of his music, Marilyn Manson has become one of heavy metal's unmistakable figures and a dark living legend.
